Co-operation with Practitioners, School Authorities,
County Council, etc.
Co-operation with general medical practitioners by the use of
"Z" cards, as explained previously, is continued. 56 "Z.l,"
73 "Z.2," 6 "Z.3" and 13 "Z.4" cards were sent during the
year under report.
Of the new patients attending the Dispensary during the
year, 177 were sent by doctors, 170 by the staff and 6 by school
medical officers. 157 cases applied of their own accord and the
balance were referred to the Dispensary from other sources.
3 patients, making in all 84 attendances, were on Light
Treatment during the year. As regards the value of general
light treatment, cases have not shown any remarkable results.
Finsen light treatment for lupus gives excellent results, but is
slow; general light baths in conjunction with it gives the best
results.
272 Form C. IV progress reports about patients who had
received institutional treatment through the County Council
were sent to the County Medical Officer.
147 school contacts were referred on "M.O. 333" cards,
to the school Medical Officer.
171 patients were recommended to the London County
Council for institutional treatment. In 24 cases the County
Council were unable to accept (of this number most had had
such treatment previously). Institutional treatment was refused
by the patient in ten instances.
