MISCELLANEOUS.
Insulin Treatment.
In March an application was received from the Victoria
Hospital for Children asking the Council to provide Insulin for
a child aged 10 who was attending the Hospital suffering from
Diabetes. This child had no father and his mother was unable
to meet the cost of this special form of treatment. The Council
decided to grant the application and the Ministry of Health gave
their sanction to the issue of a temporary supply of Insulin for
patients suffering from diabetes among the poorer inhabitants
of the Borough.
The drug was first supplied to the child's mother in May
and he was still receiving treatment at the end of the year.
Bacteriological Examinations.
During the year 2,738 bacteriological examinations were
made at the Lister Institute.
The following Table shows the number of examinations
in each sub-district and for the whole Borough, also the disease
for which the examination was made, and the result.
