Doddington Grove, and to utilise the site for the purpose of working

This Scheme is under favourable consideration, and it is expected
will materialise in 1931.
ORB STREET HOUSING SCHEME.
55, 57 and 59, Eltham Street.
9 Flats to be erected.
It is projected to acquire certain properties in Eltham Street,
together with a plot of vacant land at the corner of Orb Street.
This plan would enable 9 flats to be erected, and it is hoped to
complete this scheme in 1931.
HOUSING ACT 1930.
Owing to the coming into force of the Housing Act of 1930, I have
been giving consideration to the requirements of the Borough as affected
by it, and have had the district re-surveyed by my Inspectors.
As far as the actual property is concerned there is a considerable
improvement during the past five years and several slum clearance
schemes have been in operation.
Naturally, the property being of considerable age, further
deterioration has occurred, but it has been kept in as good sanitary
condition and repair as possible.
The Housing Act, 1930, deals inter alia with clearance schemes;
that is with areas which owing to circumstances should be completely
cleared of all buildings.
As regards these clearance areas I wish to bring forward the four
following, and to represent them to the Committee as areas which
owing to the dilapidated and insanitary condition and as injurious to the
health of the inhabitants, should be dealt with as a clearance area and
the buildings thereon demolished.
These four areas are as follows:—

TOULMIN STREET AREA.
