BIRTHS.
The number of Births registered in the Borough during 1907 was
6,023, of which 3,081 were males, and 2,942 females. This represents a
birth-rate of 28.7 per 1,000 inhabitants.
The number of births in the individual parishes was 3,613 in Newington,
1,815 in St. George the Martyr, 264 in Christchurch and 331 in
St. Saviour's.
In addition to the 6,023 births registered in the Borough I learn from
the Registrar General that there were 209 births during the year in
various lying-in institutions outside the Borough belonging to persons
