CARRIAGEWAY PAYING.
The following works at the cost stated have been executed
during the past year—
Knigsland and Hackney Road junction.—Portion of carriageway
repaved with new 7" by 3" granites and channels with 7" by 4"
ditto on concrete £278 12s. 4d.
Myrtle Street.—Channels paved with new 6" by 4" granites on
concrete, and crossings relaid £106 5s. 10d.
Hoxton and Old Street junction.—Asphalte removed and carriageway
paved with new 7" by 3" granites on concrete £404 18s. 9d.
Old Street, front of Vestry Hall.—Asphalte removed and carriageway
paved with patent wood blocks and 7" by 3" granites on
concrete at the North Metropolitan Tramway Company's cost.
Laburnum Street.—Portion of carriageway repaved with new 7" by
3" and redressed old granites, by the Vestry's workmen
about £143 0s. 0d.
The Contractor supplied 14½ tons of 7" by 3" Guernsey pitchings
for the above at a cost of £21 15s. 0d.
The sum of £10 4s. 10d. was paid to Messrs. Aspinall & Son
for Paving work executed in 1881, but omitted in their final
account.
The carriageway paving in the following localities is in a most
unsatisfactory condition, and should be repaved (or steam rolled as
required) at once to prevent accidents—
Bateman's Row
Bevenden Street
* Charles Square
* Clifton Street
* Commercial Street
Goldsmiths Row
Hoxton Square
Hoxton Street (narrow portion)
