Two foremen and ten laborers have been employed in the
general repairs of the unpaved roads, and in repairing trenches
opened by the Gas and Water Companies, and their wages for the
year amounted to £632 14s. 0d., of which the companies
contributed £223 9s. 9d. for repairs to trenches in said roads.
STEAM ROAD ROLLER.
The Roller, with the exception of 22 days in January and
February, was at work during the whole of the year; about 18
men were constantly employed in scoring, sweeping &c., and the
amount expended in labor only, was £870 3s. 5d.
The following statement will shew the roads rolled and the
cost of same :—
