53 Water Butts, and 10 Water Waste Preventors, where constant
supply is laid on.
1ll Water Butts have been repitched.
In 72 cases of insufficient Water Supply, a greater quantity has been
laid on.
26 Dung Pits have been provided.
During the year, 17 complaints have been made of pigs and other
animals being kept in improper places, where they were a nuisance and
injurious to health. Notices were given to the owners of the premises
to have them removed, which was done in every case.
Proceedings have been compelled to be taken in 60 cases before the
Police Magistrates at Worship Street Police Court, against owners of
property where they have neglected or refused to to carry out the orders
of the Sanitarv Committee.
Your Inspectors have been compelled upon several occasions to sieze
and have destroyed Fish and Meat, not being fit for human food. One
conviction of a fine of £20 or three months' imprisonment has been imposed
by Mr. Ellison, the Magistrate at the Worship Street Police
Court, for exposing for sale diseased meat.
During the year there were 980 applications to have the dust removed.
Notices were given to the Contractor who speedily attended to the same.
The cleansing of the streets and roads have been very satisfactorily
carried out, and but few complaints made, these consisted of gullies
being stopped.
The watering of the streets was done by the late contractor, Mr.
Winn, in a very efficient manner, with but three complaints during the
period of his contract.
There are 45 Licensed Cow Sheds and 78 Slaughter Houses in the
Parish. The whole I have visited at least once in every quarter, and
have reported to the Medical Officer of Health that they were generally
in a fair state of repair, cleanliness and ventilation.
The Yestry have adopted the 35th Section of the Public Health Act,
1866. Regulations having been drawn up and certified by the Secretary
of State for the Home Department, the following houses and properties
are placed under the above regulations, viz.:
