In addition to the information gleaned from the Census returns, I have
in column 7 calculated the increase per cent, of the population in the
Registration Districts. From this it will be seen that South West
Islington and South East Islington, which are now to all intents and
purposes built over, show the least increase of population. Indeed, any
further increase must be deprecated, because it can be gained only
at the expense of overcrowding, and overcrowding usually means
increased disease and mortality.
These statistics have been given for the convenience of the
members of the Yestry, who, from time to time, may have to refer to
them for the purpose of estimating the relative health of the subdivisions,
and wrho have not easy access to the returns of the RegistrarGeneral.
