from the "Angel" to Finsbury Park (which is suggested as a commencement)
with arc lamps would cost little, if any, more than the present
cost of gas, particularly if arrangements are made for switching off half
the lamps at midnight, or for fixing incandescent lamps to take the

PROBABLE DEMAND FOR ELECTRICITY IN ISLINGTON.
Your Special Committee is informed by various experts whom
it has interviewed that the Parish of Islington offers a very favourable
field for the supply of Electric Light. The business premises in the
main thoroughfares are mostly kept open until late in the evening, and
are consequently the most desirable and best paying class of property
for the supply of Electricity. By the adoption of the high tension
system, as recommended by the Committee, the Vestry will be enabled

Lane, Carleton Road, Camden Road, Highbury New Park, Tufnell Park
Road, Highbury Quadrant, Petherton Road, and other roads, especially
in Highbury, Canonbury, and Upper Holloway. At the present moment

a supply of the current to their premises. It is only reasonable to

buildings, shops, public-houses, and private residences in various parts
of the Parish, would be glad to avail themselves of the opportunity
of obtaining the light from the Local Authority constituted to promote
and to protect their interests, in preference to any private Company
which might be authorised to supply electricity in the Parish. it in
evident that with the advantages attending the use of the electiic
light the demand tor the current will grow as it has done in other
