VESTRY OF
SAINT MARY, ISLINGTON.
Estimates for Rates.
POOR RATE.
The amount required to be raised for the half-year ending 31st
March, 1893, is £116,833, to meet which, it will be necessary to levy a
rate of 1s. 5½d. in the £. Compared with the rate for the corresponding
period of last year, this is an increase of 2d. in the £. From the
details which will be found on page 7, it will be seen that this is
occasioned by an increase in the requirements of the Board of Guardians

£2,839. The Vestry has also to provide, in addition, a sum of £1,660
required by the Commissioners for Public Baths and Wash-houses for
interest and repayment of loans falling due during the half-year.
LIGHTING RATE.
A rate of 1d. in the £ will be required to provide the expenses of
Public Lighting. This is the same Rate as that for the corresponding
period of last year.
GENERAL RATE.
Upon reference to page 21 it will be seen that the next Rate is

£5,720. This is due to the fact that, upon nearly every account covered
by the General Rate, the actual expenditure has exceeded the original
estimates, namely:—
