have been altered in assessment in consequence either of alterations in
value or structural alterations, resulting in a net increase of £20,097
in the gross and £16,534 in the rateable value of the parish during the
past year. The total valuation of the parish at the present time is
£2,035,031 gross, and £1,688,177 rateable value, the result of the
appeals above referred to being included.
35 new agreements for payment of rates in respect of small properties
have been entered into with owners under the " Poor Rate Assessment
and Collection Act, 1869," during the past year, and four agreements have
been cancelled. There are at the present time in existence 393
commission agreements in respect of 4,130 separate hereditaments.

The rates for the year amounted to 5s. 2¼d. in the £, an increase upon those for the previous year of 2¼d. The details are as follow:—

The estimates upon which these rates were based will be found in
the appendix.
Reference to these estimates will shew that of this 5s. 2½d. the
portion for which the Vestry is responsible is less than 1s. 5d., the
remainder representing the expenditure of the Board of Guardians and
of the central bodies over which the Vestry has no control.

advance of 2½d. before referred to is attributable mainly to the increased
