REGISTRATION OF HOUSES LET IN LODGINGS, OR OCCUPIED
BY MEMBERS OF MORE THAN ONE FAMILY.
(29 & 30 Vic., cap. 90, s. 35; and 37 & 38 Vic., cap. 89, s. 47.)
The 300 houses upon the register have been regularly inspected
during the year, and the regulations duly enforced. Notices were
served in cases of non-compliance with the regulations, but in no
instance was it found necessary to resort to legal proceedings to
enforce them.
THE DUSTING OF THE PARISH, 1892.
I have appended the usual tabulated statement (Table XVI.)
of the applications for the removal of Dust during the year ending
3lst December 1892, showing the number received during each
quarter from the eight different Wards of the Parish.
Of the total number of 9,964 applications received from residents
during the year, 7,021 were by Letter or Post Card, and 2,943 by
personal application at the Vestry Offices.
The 9,964 applications received from inhabitants were at the rate
of 26.9 per cent, of the 43,476 assessments in the Parish, as against
25.6 per cent, in 1891.
I took occasion during the latter part of the year to advise the
Public Health Committee to recommend the Sub-Committee having
charge of this work to have each house cleansed once in each week.
I was requested to lay my views before the Sub-Committee, who adopted
my recommendation, but I regret to say its decision was over-ruled by
the Works Committee. I have only to add that a By-law just issued
by the London County Council makes it compulsory on the Vestry to
perform this most necessary work every week.
