MACADAM ROADS.
The following have been converted from flint into macadamized
roads:—
Fonthill Road, central portion, from Tollington Park to Lennox
Road.
Highbury Place, from No. 2 to the north entrance to Highbury
Crescent. (The whole of the unpaved portion of the carriage
way of this road is now macadam.)
CUBING WORKS.
Caledonian Road, from Pentonville Road to St. James's Road—
The whole of the pitching in the margins of this road has been re-laid
(new stone being used where necessary) upon Portland cement at a
cost of £3,668 l1s. l0d. The work was carried out under a special
contract.
Malvern Terrace—The carriage way which has been formed from
Thornhill Road to and including part of No. 3, more particularly
described under the head of Improvement Works, has been paved with
old re-dressed pitching from Caledonian Road laid upon a foundation of
new concrete at a cost of £92 10s. 1d.
Highbury Station Road— The old boulder paving by the end of
Swan Yard has been removed from the carriage way, and the old pitching
from Caledonian Road after being re-dressed has been substituted;
a portion of the carriage way by the north-west corner of Swan Yard has
also been paved with similar materials. The whole of this work
including new concrete has cost £14 l1s. 5d.
Hampton Court, Upper Street— The old boulder paving in the
carriageway has been removed, and instead of it a row of flat kerb as
wheel tracks on each side of the carriageway, with old pitching from
Caledonian Road between, has been laid on a foundation of new concrete
at a total cost of £56 4s.
Swan Yard— The old boulder paving in the carriageway has
been removed, and old pitching from Caledonian Road after being
re-dressed has been laid instead on a foundation of new concrete, at a
cost of £101 4s. 8d.
