Metropolitan Railway Station in Clerkenwell.—
The Vestry, in the interests of Clerkenwell,
called the attention of the Directors of the
Metropolitan Railway to the want of a station
near Rosebery Avenue or the Parcels Post Depot,
and midway between King's Cross and Farringdon
Road Stations, which are more than a mile apart,
and therefore of but little use to the central part of
the Parish.
Opening of Streets by Companies.—In order to
prevent the breaking up of the roads as far as
possible the Vestry have supported the Strand
District Board of Works in a request they have
made to the County Council that the Council should
endeavour to obtain powers in their next General
Powers Bill for Metropolitan Local Authorities to
regulate the opening of streets by Gas, Water and
other Companies, and also appointed, at the
instance of the Vestry of St. Martin-in-the-Fields,
delegates to a Conference as to charging the
National Telephone Company for permission to lay
tubes under the public way.
Parish Maps.—For the purpose of the spot maps
of infectious disease, a large scale map of the parish
has been corrected and lithographed, and a sufficient
number of folding copies, on linen, ordered for one
to be supplied to each member, and to be placed on
sale at 1s. 6d. per copy, unmounted copies being
sold at 6d.
