H.R.H. Princess Christian on the 26th June, and
the Vestry presented the following address:—
VESTRY OF THE PARISH OF ST. JAMES AND ST.
JOHN, CLERKENWELL.
Town Hall, Clerkenwell,
Rosebery Avenue, E.C.,
June 26th, 1895.
To Her Royal Highness Princess Christian
of Schleswig-Holstein,
May it please your Royal Highness,
On behalf of the Parishioners of Clerkenwell the Vestry
beg most respectfully to offer your Royal Highness a very hearty
welcome on this first occasion on which a member of the Royal
Family has honoured the Parish with a visit for purely local
purposes.
The Vestry are mindful that the members of the Royal Family
have always evinced a deep interest in the great spread of
national education and of municipal life which has characterised
the beneficent reign of Her Most Gracious Majesty, our beloved
Queen, and they rejoice that your Royal Highness graces with
your presence to day a ceremony in which each of these movements
has its appropriate share, for the Vestry gladly consented
that the Bazaar in aid of the Clerkenwell Parochial Schools
should be the first public use to which this Town Hall should
be applied.
Sealed with the Common Seal of the Vestry.
WM. ROBSON, Chairman.
R. E. PAGET, Vet try Clerk.

I thank you sincerely for the very cordial welcome you gave
me on the occasion of my visit to the Parish of St. James and
St. John, Clerkenwell, and for your expressions of loyalty
towards the Queen, of which I shall not fail to inform her.
