Plumber's Place.—This thoroughfare now passing
through the courtyard of Northampton Buildings,
the Vestry have thought it desirable to mark the
public way, and continuous lines of iron rail have
therefore been fixed in the paving. Two tablets have
also been fixed recording that these lines mark the
boundaries of the public way.
Records of the Parish.—An old minute book,
dating from 1569, containing interesting records of
the parish, has been repaired, and lent to the
Public Library Commissioners for exhibition in the
Library.
Rodney Street.—A wall which formerly stood
across the roadway of Rodney Street, separating it
from Muriel Street, Islington, has been pulled down
with the consent of the freeholder, the consequent
making up of the roadways been done by the
respective Vestries, and a desirable public improvement
has been thereby effected.
Goswell Road Widening.—The Vestry again
approached the County Council with the view to
their taking steps to widen the narrow portion of
Goswell Road, and a deputation waited upon the
Improvements Committee on the 8th February;
but the Committee did not hold out much hope of
the Council taking action in the matter unless the
Vestry were prepared to contribute towards the
cost; but the Vestry adhered to their opinion that
the improvement is one of a metropolitan character
which should be entirely borne by the County
fund.
St. John Street Widening.—The preceding
paragraph applies equally to the suggested widening
of St. John Street, between Aylesbury Street and
Clerkenwell Road.
