Gray's Inn Enclosure.—The Yestry, in September,
invited the co-operation of the Hclborn District
Board of Works in asking the Treasurer and
Benchers of Gray's Inn to remove the present high
wall enclosing their gardens in Theobald's Road,
and to substitute for same a dwarf wall with iron
railings, and so provide a pleasant aspect, as has
been done by the New Biver Company with regard
to the enclosed space in Bosebery Avenue. The
District Board agreed, and a joint letter was addressed
to the Benchers accordingly. They replied,
stating that they were not unwilling to entertain
the proposal, provided the Holborn District Board
would pave with wood the roadway from Raymond
Buildings to Holborn Town Hall, and from Hoiborn
Town Hall to Holborn.
The Holborn District Board also wrote enquiring
how far the Yestry would be prepared to meet
them with reference to the expense. The Yestry
thanked the Benchers for the favourable consideration
they had given to the scheme, but replied to
the Holborn District Board that they had 110 power
to expend money outside the limits of the parish.

terms in consideration of which they would be
willing to pull down the projecting buildings, and
set back the new buildings to a frontage line, as
shown on the accompanying plans:—
1.—The substitution for the existing entrance in Skinner
Street, to the passage called Plumbers Place, of a new archway
