Personal.—Mr. Wm. O'Connor, late of Myddelton
Street, died in January, 1893, and the Vestry
on the 26th of that month passed a resolution
expressing their regret at his decease.
Retirement of the Rector of St. John's
Church.—At the Vestry meeting on the 1st
December, the Chairman called attention to the
retirement of the Rev. Wm. Dawson, M.A., from
his position as Rector of St. John's Church, and to
the good services he had rendered to the Parish
during a period of 22 years, by the special interest
he has shewn in sanitation, his association with
the Library movement, the great improvement of
St. John's Church, chiefly at his own expense, and
his uniform devotion to the interests of the Poor.
The reverend gentleman was an ex-officio member
of the Vestry as Rector of St. John's, but he was
also for some years, and at the time of his retirement,
an elected member for St. John's Ward.
