The births were 47 loss than in. the preceding year, but 132 loss
than the average.

According to the Registrar-General's sub-districts in which the deaths and births occurred, they stand thus:—

In each year a number of deaths of parishioners takes place in
General and Special Hospitals, in the Workhouses, and in the
Infirmary, all of which are extra-parochial.
The number of deaths which occurred in the Hospitals was 212;
in the Workhouses, 122; in the Infirmary, 129; elsewhere, 21;
making a total of 484. The numbers, causes, and ages of the
deaths are given in the tables appended to this Report.
The population of the Parish has increased by the occupation of
new buildings, since the Census of 1891; but takiug the numbers
of that Census, the intra-parochial mortality amounts to 18 per 1000;
including the workhouse and infirmary deaths, to 20; and including
the hospital deaths, to 23 per 1,000.
The deaths occurring in the outlying portion of the Parish at
Muswell Hill, are enumerated with those of the Pentonville district.
The mortality of all London during the year, was 20 per 1,000.
That of the West districts being 10; the North district, 19; the
Central districts, 23; of the East districts, 23; and of the South
districts, 19.
The number of deaths arising from the principal zymotic
