TREES.
The total number of trees in the public streets is
238, of these 88 trees are maintained under contract
by Mr. W. C. Benedict.
One hundred and four trees in Rosebery Avenue,
between Farringdon Road and St. John Street
Road, are still maintained by the London County
Council.
Forty-six new plane trees were planted by the
"Vestry in Rosebery Avenue, between Farringdon
Road and the Holborn boundary, to replace a
similar number of dead ones.
CLEANSING OF FOOTWAYS.
The duty of cleansing the footways having devolved
upon the Local Authority, the Vestry
decided to divide the Parish into two districts, and
employ three boys with a ganger in each district.
CLEANSING OF STREETS.

The number of scavengers employed by the
Vestry is 22, in addition to two horse brooms. The
number of loads of street sweepings removed was
8,364, of which 426 were collected on Sunday
mornings. The average number of horses employed
was per dav, including those with the brooms.
