To the Vestry of the Parish of St. James and St.
John, Clerkenwell.
Gentlemen,
I beg respectfully to report that during
the quarter ending 30th September, 1888, I purchased
and submitted to the Public Analyst the
following Articles, viz.:—12 milk, 12 coffee, 2
butter, 1 pepper.
William Henry Murrill, 27a, Clerkenwell Close,
for selling coffee adulterated with 20 per cent. of
chicory. Fined 50s. and 2s. costs. C/2 38.
A. W. Elliott, 1, Spencer Place, for selling coffee
adulterated with 30 per cent. chicory. Fined 20s.
and 2s. costs. C/2 45.
D. R. Evans & Co., 55, Goswell Road, for selling
coffee adulterated with 20 per cent. of chicory.
Fined 20s. and 2s. costs. C/2 46.
Charles Johnson, 60, Compton Street, for selling
coffee adulterated with 20 per cent. chicory. Fined
10s. and 2s. costs. C/2 48.
W. Hatton, 66, Compton Street, for selling
coffee adulterated with 45 per cent of chicory.
Fined 40s. and 2s. costs. C/2 49.
Thomas Jenkins, 6, Aylesbury Street, for selling
milk adulterated with 15 per cent added water.
Fined 20s. and 2s. costs. C/2 50.
J. W. Jay, 21, Hatton Wall, for selling milk
adulterated with 12 per cent. of added water.
Fined 15s. and 2s. costs. C/2 66.
