DUSTING, SLOPPING, &c,,
For the Year to 25th March, 1889.
Dusting.—During the year there have been 6074 loads of dust,
and 180¼ loads of trade refuse removed, 137 freights of ashes and
breeze, containing 8664 chaldrons, have been removed from the
Wharf, for which a sum of £457 13s. 9d. has been received, being
an average of £3 6s. 10d. per freight against £3 2s. 3d , £2 19s,
5d., and £3 18s., for the three previous years. 18¾ freights of
hardcore have also been removed, for which 16 barges have been
hired at a cost of £45 15s. 0d., while 190 loads (equal to 2¾ freights)
have been removed by a Contractor.
Street Sweepings.—During the year, 6013 loads of street
sweepings were removed from the Parish, being a increase of nearly
1500, 312 of which were collected on Sunday Mornings, 143
freights were disposed of, 78 being sold for £l each, 3 for 15s.,
1 for 10s., and 61 being removed free.
