WORKS COMMITTEE
ON
DUSTING, SLOPPING, &c„
the Year to 25th March, 1888.
The Committee beg to present their Report for the year ending
on the 25th March last, of the operations and results of the system
of doing the Dusting, Slopping and Watering of the Parish by the
Vestry's own staff, as submitted by the Clerk, and approved and
adopted by the Committee.
Dusting.—During the year there have been 7,943 loads of
dust, and 215¼ loads of trade refuse removed. 132 freights of ashes
and breeze, containing 8,480 chaldrons, have been removed from
the Wharf, for which a sum of £411 1s. 5d. has been received,
being an average of £3 2s. 3d. per freight against £2 19s. 5d.,
£3 18s., and £5 2s. 11d., for the three previous years. 21½
freights of hardcore have also been removed, for which 14 barges
have been hired at a cost of £42 15s. 0d , while 543 loads (equal
to 7½ freights), have been removed by a Contractor.
