In each year, a number of the deaths of the parishioners takes
place in general and special Hospitals. There has hitherto been
no means of accurately ascertaining these, I have therefore been
obliged to estimate the proportion of them from the known
number occurring in all the institutions in the metropolis, in
relation to the inhabitants. An annual estimate of these has
always been given for the last 27 years. The estimated number
for 1883 amounts to 104. As the deaths occurring in the Workhouse
and Infirmary are not registered in the parish, an estimate
of them must also be made, from the known number occurring
in all the institutions of the Holborn Union, in relation to
the number of paupers belonging to Clerkenwell.
