INSPECTOR'S REPORT,
For the Quarter ending Dec. 25th, 1882.
To the Vestry of the Parish of Clerkenwell.
Gentlemen ,
During the quarter ended Christmas, 1882,
I have taken to the Analyst 23 samples consisting of
1 Gin, 10 Milk, 2 Mustard, 2 Pepper, 1 Sweets, 2
Coffee, 2 Bread, and 3 Whisky. One of the samples of
Mustard and one of the samples of Milk were found
to be adulterated, and the vendors summoned as follows
:—
Mrs. Sergeant, of 20, Compton Street, was summoned
for selling Mustard adulterated with 10 per cent. of
starch (sample C. 511½). Mr. Hosack, the Presiding
Magistrate, dismissed the summons, taking into consideration
the small per centage of adulteration and
the small way of business of the defendant.
Mrs. Reynolds, of Spencer Street, was summoned
for selling Milk adulterated with 19 per cent. of
water, and was fined 50s. and costs (sample C. 513½).
