The specimen of Grindley's Patent Asphalte Pavement
laid in 1874 in Exmouth Street and Rosoman
Street in front of the " ondon Spa," was taken up
and relaid with similar material.
A specimen of Brunswick Eock Asphalte Pavement
was laid in front of Nos. 64, 66 & 68, Exmouth Street,
this pavement consists of a thickness of 3-inch Portland
Cement Concrete, upon which a layer of Asphalte
1-inch thick is laid; the Asphalte is extracted from
mines at Vorwohle in Germany.
Three New Refuges were constructed in the following
positions:—
1 Circular Eefuge near the "Angel."
1 Circular do. St. John Street at its junction with
Clerkenwell Eoad.
1 Elliptic do. Clerkenwell Eoad by St. John's Square.
Jobbing Works:—For the maintenance and general
repairs of the Carriage and Footways of the Parish the
following materials have been used:—
Ballast 72 cube yards
Hoggin 145 „
Sand 261 „
Broken Granite 1104 „
974 yards of this Granite were broken by the Yestry.
1 Ton new Granite was laid.
2,918 ft. sup. new York laid.
(Of which 621 ft. were for the various Companies)
