Surbeyor's Report
To the Vestry of the Parish of St. James and St. John,
Clerkenwett.
Gentlemen,
I beg respectfully to submit the following Report for the
year ending Lady-day, 1873.
Sewerage and Sanitary Works.
During this period, 8 Sewers have been repaired and 26
cleansed, 17 New Gullies have been constructed, 8 trapped, 52
repaired, and 221 cleansed; 36 House Drains have been laid down,
comprising 1 12-inch, 10 9-inch, and 25 6-inch, while 36 houses
have been drained, and 2 house-drains trapped; 136 loads of soil
have been taken out and removed from the Sewers and Gullies
5,621,000 gallons of Water were used in watering the roads.
Road and Paving Works.
For the maintenance and reparation of the Roads, 1099 cube
yards of material have been used in the following proportions of the
various kinds, viz :—
256 cube yards of Broken Aberdeen Granite.
202 „ „ „ Markfield.
262 „ „ „ Flints.
331 „ „ „ Ballast.
48 „ „ „ Hoggin.
