Fifty seven new workshops were added to the register
dealing with: (a) tailoring, 8; (b) upholstery, 5; (c) motors,
5; (d) confectioners, 3; (e) millinery, 3; (f) laundry, 3; (g)
dressmaking, 1; (h) boot-repairing, 3; (i) rag-sorter, 4; (j)
blousemaking, 2; (k) toys, 2; (l) metal-work, 2; (m)
miscellaneous, 17.

Bakehouses.
There were 77 bakehouses on the register at the end of
1919. Of these 36 use power and are therefore factories.
Fifty-three of the bakehouses are situated above ground, and
24 are under ground.
227 inspections were made during the year, and notices
were served to remedy various defects, mostly for failure to
carry out the bi-yearly limewhiting of the bakehouses within
the statutory period.
Out Workers.
During 1919 the names and addresses of 511 out-workers
were received. 119 lists were sent in by employers and by the
Medical Officers of Health of Metropolitan Borough and
District Councils.
