Milk.
Of the total number of samples taken under the provisions
of the Acts during 1919, 626 were milk samples. Of this
number 46 (7"35 per cent.) were found on analysis to be
adulterated. Two of the adulterated samples were separated
milk.
The nature, of the adulteration in the adulterated samples
of milk was as follows :—
1. Extraneous water varying from 4 to 28 per cent,
in 28 of the samples.
2. Deficiency in milk fat varying from 3 to 19 per cent,
in 12 of the samples.
3. Extraneous water and fat deficiency 4 to> 9 per
cent; extraneous water and 45"45 per cent, fat deficiency
in 1 sample.
The two adulterated samples of separated milk showed
extraneous water 4 6 and 13 33 per cent, respectively.
Ninety-five of the samples taken during the year were
taken in course of delivery to the retailer.
