The phosphatase test indicates that pasteurisation has been
properly carried out; the methylene blue test is used to determine
cleanliness and keeping quality; the turbidity test is a check
on sterilisation and the T.B. test is for the purpose of detecting
tubercle bacilli.
All samples conformed to the required standard.
Proceedings were taken against a Distributor under
Section 26 (l) of the Milk & Dairies Regulations, 1949, for
failing to ensure that a vessel (bottle) used for containing
milk was in a state of thorough cleanliness.
A fine of £30. was imposed and the Council awarded
£l0.10.0d. costs.
