CONCLUSION.
This was another busy year of steady progress with no
spectacular occurrences.
Despite the unfortunate absence on sick leave for a long
period of one of the Inspectors (now, I am glad to say fully
restored to health) every effort was made to give adequate
attention to the manifold duties with which we are entrusted.
This is the last report I shall write of services rendered
to the Council under the general direction of Dr. Linzee who
retired on 31st December, 1955.
I worked with him for twenty-two years (eight as Senior
Inspector) so his departure "breaks a long association, and I
should like to record my thanks to him for his friendliness
and help to me, and to wish him every happiness in his
retirement.
I am, Mr. Mayor, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
H.J. ELDRIDGE,
Senior Sanitary Inspector.
In presenting this my last report to the Council I wish
to thank all the members of the Public Health staff for their
assistance to me.
Since my appointment in 1922 I have worked with three
Senior Sanitary Inspectors, Mr. Nesfield until his retirement
in 1931, Mr, McClelland until his untimely death in 1947 and
finally Mr. Eldridge.
I cannot let this opportunity go without drawing the
attention of the Council to the great help given to me at all
times by Mr. Eldridge, Mr. Elms, and Miss Cryer.
I am,
Yours faithfully,
N.H. LINZEE.
Medical Officer of Health.
