REPORT
of the
Inspector of Nuisances,
For the Year ending December 31st, 1899.
Notices have been served to abate 292 Nuisances in the
district for the year 1899, as against 379 for the preceding year,
and 2,487 house to house inspections have been made as against
2,396.
The District has been remarkably free from nuisances as
is shown by the above figures. A good deal of trouble has been
given by persons keeping Swine—when the nuisance is put down
in one place it crops up in another. I have found them concealed
in all manner of places. It would be a good thing if pig keepers
were registered; as the District ceases to be rural, the keeping of
pigs must become a nuisance.
It is difficult to prevent over-crowding in Lilian Road; the
ents are too high for one tenant to pay, and there are no other
dwellings to take the overflow from the other side of the river
and there is a very large number of children in this street.
