Verminous Heads:—In dealing with this condition our efforts to
secure the cleansing of children's heads have received material assistance
from the proprietor of a hairdressing establishment in the neighbourhood.
He adopts a process (the nature of which is naturally known
only to the inventor himself) whereby the nits and vermin are removed
from even the dirtiest head's at one sitting. A large number of girls,
who on inspection were found to have a profusion of nits present in
the hair, have been advised to submit themselves to the treatment, and
in most instances this advice has been acted upon.
This method of dealing with children having verminous heads is
not only beneficial to the children, but is also greatly to be preferred1
to the alternative and more drastic measure of cutting the hair short.
The cost of the treatment, which varies from 2/6 to 3 6, according
to the quantity of the child's hair, has to be defrayed by the parents.
