If the child has been treated, that fact is entered on the followingup
card; the medical officer examines the children at the next visitation

the following-up card is affixed to the school medical inspection card
in the register.

MINOR AILMENTS' CLINIC.
There are two Minor Ailments Clinics, one at the School Treatment
Centre, behind the Town Hall, the other at Bruce Castle. The
Town Hall Clinic is open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday forenoons,
the Bruce Castle Centre on Monday and Wednesday forenoons. A doctor
is in attendance at each of these sessions, and on Friday forenoon a
nurse attends at Bruce Castle Centre to attend to chronic cases.
The nature of the ailment for which the attendance is made is
entered upon a minor ailments card, together with the name, age and
address of the child and the school department to which he is attached.
On the reverse side of the card is entered the date of attendance,
whether the child is to attend, or not to attend school, and the date,
if any, when the child is required next to attend the clinic. To these
entries are affixed the Doctor's initials. This card is retained by the
child and brought with him at each attendance. The card is expected
to be produced to the attendance officer who may be making enquiries
about the child's absence from school. A minor ailments record card
is retained! at the clinic giving the same information, together with the
treatment applied, the time of arrival and departure from the clinic,
bacteriological findings respecting any material microscopically examined,
reference to letters sent, or received, concerning the patient and details of
any special action, e.g., consultation with Tuberculosis Officer, Convalescent
Home Treatment, etc. At the completion of the treatment the minor
ailment record card is affixed to the medical inspection card. The time
spent by the patients at the clinic is notified weekly to the school teachers,
and that with the time spent in school, together with the reasonable time
spent in coming and going, ranks for attendance at school for the
purpose of educational grant.
