Accommodation can be provided for from 50 to 60 children, for
the requisite nursing staff, and caretakers.
The staff consists of a matron and two nurses, caretaker and
his wife, and three cleaners.
The attendances fro-n January 1st, to December 31st, 1919,
were as follows:—

The Creche is visited daily by the Medical Officer of Health or
one of the assistants. Artificially fed children under one year of age
are examined once a week, and children over a year at monthly intervals,
or more frequently as occasion seems to require it.
DISTRICT MATERNITY HOME. With the development
of the Maternity and Child Welfare scheme it became obvious that a
Maternity Home was a necessity.
The great majority of the houses of the working classes of
Tottenham are not suitable for the "lying-in" and their unsuitability
is accentuated by the over-crowded condition of many.
A tentative arrangement was arrived at between the Edmonton
Guardians and your Council, with the approval of the Ministry of
