Superintending Registrar for this purpose. The tendency of many
occupiers, in replying to the questions of sanitary officials, lies rather in
the direction of understating the number of persons living in their
houses, and for this reason it is possible the following populations may
be under-estimated. If so, the death-rates calculated thereon will
appear higher than they actually were:—
