Shop Hours' Act.—During the year over 800 shops were
visited and 55 infringements of the Act reported. Two summonses
were applied for and granted, the Magistrate inflicting fines and costs
amounting to £3 7s. 6d. The other offenders were cautioned.
Bakehouses.—180 bakehouses were visited and inspected,
and notices to cleanse served in 17 cases.
Slaughter Houses.—There are 31 slaughter houses in the
Borough, many of them being but little used. It is obvious, however,
