On 29th June, the Town Clerk having reported " that he had
arranged agreements with the under-mentioned Authorities with
regard to the use of the Council's Small-pox Hospital at Dagenham,
subject to the consent of the Local Government Board being obtained
to the borrowing of the money required for the necessary extension of
the building," the Corporate Seal was affixed to the agreements:—
East Ham Urban District Council.

Romford Rural „ „ „
At a later date a similar agreement was entered into with the
Wanstead Urban District Council.
General Sanitary Administration.—The routine work
of the office, periodically reported to you throughout the year
may be briefly summed up; 5,139 notices were served, chiefly
under the Public Health Act, to abate nuisances of various kinds,
particulars of which will be found in the Appendix to this report.
Failure to comply with these notices resulted in my applying for 109
summonses; of these, 41 were withdrawn on the payment of costs
(£7), 4 were withdrawn without costs, and in the remaining 64 the
Magistrate made orders to abate, imposing fines and costs amounting
to £80 2s. 6d.
Factory and Workshops Acts.—During the year 83
workshops were visited, including 29 laundries. It was found
necessary to serve 49 notices, in all of which cases the terms of the
