Public Health Committee, 20th October.—" That they have
now carefully considered the plans prepared by Mr.
Edwin T. Hall for the extension of the Hospital for
Infectious Diseases at Plaistow, and the completion of
the scheme of hospital accommodation, the principle of
which was adopted, on the recommendation of the
Medical Officer of Health, as far back as 1890.
" Your Committee have had a detailed report from
Mr. Hall, with regard to the accommodation provided
and the estimate of the cost, a print of which they bring
up herewith (vide Appendix), and they have also had the
advantage of inspecting the large Park Hospital recently
erected under the direction of Mr. Hall; at Hither Green,
for the Metropolitan Asylums Board, and shortly to be
opened for the reception of patients.
" Your Committee are advised by the Medical Officer
of Health that the whole of the accommodation provided
in the scheme will be ultimately required to adequately
deal with the infectious disease of the Borough, and
recommend that the whole plan be generally approved
and adopted, but that three of the pavilions be not
erected for the present, in accordance with the terms
agreed when Mr. Hall was engaged. They further
recommend that the Architect be asked to report to them
what portion of the total estimated cost of £73,260 it
will be possible to delay in connection with the postponement
of the erection of the three blocks in question."

had under consideration the report of the Public Health
Committee, under date the 20th ult., with regard to the
plans and estimates for the extension of the Plaistow
