Allocating to each Ward its quota of population from the data
furnished by the Education Authority and that estimated by me, the
figures are as follows:—
POPULATION OF WARDS.
Enumerated. | Estimated by M.O.H. | Difference. | |
---|---|---|---|
St. James Street | 24,600 | 23,784 | 816 |
High Street | 23,328 | 20,790 | 2,538 |
Hoe Street | 25,234 | 24,332 | 902 |
Wood Street | 18,300 | 17,436 | 864 |
Northern | 39,147 | 37,050 | 2,097 |
This total of 123,392 shows but a bare increase on my estimated
population of 1907.
That the population has not increased in 1908 may be accepted
as true.
The natural increase of population is accounted for by migration, and
the increase by building of houses by the extra number empty.
As accuracy of Ward population is impossible, I assign to each for
comparative purposes the following numbers, those assigned in previous
years being added:—
WARD POPULATION.
St. James St. | High St. | Hoe St. | Wood St. | Northern. | Total. | |
