Fishmongers.—Frequent visits, more especially in the warm
weather, have been made to the sixty-five premises occupied by
fishmongers, both in connection with the supervision of the food
supply, and as to the prevention of nuisances in carrying on the
trade. The cleaning and paving of the premises are of especial
necessity in these places, and the provision of suitable receptacles
for, and frequent removal of, offal equally necessary.
The arrangement which I succeeded in making some years back
with the two firms who remove the fish offal from the district by
which their vans come round in the midnight hours, still continues,
and the offal is removed during the warm weather every night, and
two or three times a week during the remainder of the year.
The following works have been carried out at our suggestion :—
