Conclusion.
In reviewing the details of this report, I cannot but hope
the Council may be satisfied with the work that has been done
in this important department.
A steadily declining Death Rate during the last ten
years, and which last year reached the very low figure of 9.25
per .1,000, may well be the envy and the pride of any district,
and speaks volumes in praise of the healthiness of the locality.
Still more can doubtless yet be done by continued watchfulness
and increasing use of the many powers entrusted
to your care for the benefit of the Public Health.
I particularly hope we may in the future take our full
share in the warfare now urged against Consumption in all
its various forms, and which is still a dark page in the records
of the national health.
