Sanitary Convenience.
The Sanitary Convenience in King Street has worked
well throughout the year, and has proved a convenience to
the neighbourhood, and also to visitors.
Bathing Place.
This has continued to be highly appreciated and successful
in every way, and is a great asset to the town. The
attendant reported that 37 girls and 54 boys had been taught
to swim during the season, and that the total attendance was
4,882 females, 39,280 males.
For the first time ladies have been admitted a privilege
they have greatly appreciated, and have frequently expressed
their gratitude for this boon to the officers of the Council.
Many have expressed the hope that in the coming summer the
time assigned to their use may be extended.
Costumes have been obtained by the Council and lent to
the children attending the Public Elementary Schools in the
district, thereby giving them equal facilities for bathing.
It gives me pleasure to report the efficiency and courtesy
of the Council's attendants to all using the place, a testimonial
signed by a number of the regular bathers accompanied by a
small monetary present was presented to them as a mark of
appreciation of their good services.
