One died at the age of 90, one at 91 and one at the
very advanced age of 97.
Three uncertified deaths were recorded, one due to
Senile decay, one to Influenza and one to Premature Birth.
Amongst the deaths from all causes were 7 from
Diarrhoea, 7 other Diarrhœal Diseases, 25 from Phthisis,
8 from other forms of Tuberculosis, 11 from Cancer, 24
from Respiratory Diseases, 35 from Heart Disease, 9 from
Accidents, and 16 Premature Births.
With reference to compiling the death returns for the
district the Local Government Board insists that regard should
be had to the following points:—
"By the term 'Non-resident' is meant persons brought
"into the district on account of sickness or infirmity, and
"dying in public institutions there; and by the term
" 'Residents' is meant persons who have been taken out of
" the district on account of sickness or infirmity, and have
" died in public institutions elsewhere."
"The 'Public Institutions' to be taken into account for
"the purposes of these Tables are those into which persons
"are habitually received on account of sickness or infirmity,
"such as hospitals, workhouses and lunatic asylums."
It will be observed that the death of any person really
belonging to an outside district must however be classified as
" Resident " unless such person dies in a Public Institution,
i.e., as regards Twickenham, St. John's Hospital, Nightingale
Nursing Home and Carpenters' Almshouses.
Fifty deaths of residents occurred outside the District in
the undermentioned places:—
Isleworth Infirmary 26
Richmond Hospital 6
Wandsworth Asylum 4
Devonshire Street, Marylebone 1
