of the Act are a factory or workshop, the hours of employment
of women and young persons may be varied.
Special regulations are to be complied with in laundries
where mechanical power is used, by providing a fan, &c., for
regulating the temperature of every ironing room. Stoves for
heating irons are to be separated from the ironing room.
Floors must be kept in a good condition and drained.
Wherein premises, forming part of an institution carried
on for charitable or reformatory purposes, any manual labour
is exercised in the making, altering, repairing, ornamenting,
finishing, washing, cleaning or adapting for sale of articles
not for use in the Institution, the provisions of the Factory
and Workshop Act, 1901 are applicable to those premises.
The duties occasioned by this statute have been again
satisfactorily performed by the Assistant Sanitary Inspector.
Slaughter Houses.
These have been carefully inspected. The Council
caused to be sent to every slaughterer in the district a circular
letter issued by the Local Government Board as to the
methods of slaughter, and requested that the suggestion as
to the humane slaughtering of animals should receive careful
consideration.
Inspection of the Parish.
Over 6761 houses, premises, &c., have been inspected
and re-inspected.
