Application was made to the Council for a
license to erect a slaughter house upon premises in
Ewell Road. The Sanitary Committee gave the
matter their careful consideration and eventually
decided not to grant the application as the proposed
new slaughter house did not comply with the
recommendations of the Local Government Board
as regards the distance from the adjoining houses.
Dairies, Cowsheds and Milkshops.
The dairies, cowsheds and milkshops have
been inspected quarterly during the year, and at
irregular periods as occasion required. The object
being to see that they are kept clean, that all
refuse is regularly removed, that there is no overcrowding
of the sheds and that the drainage is
maintained in good order.
In no case has it been necessary to report to
the Sanitary Committee any breach of the
regulations.
There are 16 persons registered under the
Act, as follows:—Cowkeepers, I; Cowkeepers,
Dairymen, and Purveyors of milk, 3; Purveyors
of milk, 5; Dairymen and Purveyors of milk, 7.
The average number of cows kept by the
persons registered is 252; and all are under
periodical inspection by the Council's Veterinary
Inspector.
