Public Dining Rooms and Tea Rooms.
The number of premises on the register at the end of the
year was 64. These were all systematically inspected, and 16
sanitary defects and nuisances dealt with. Additional urinal
accommodation was provided in two instances, and the closet
accommodation improved in three instances.
Strict attention was given to the general cleanliness, also
the lighting and ventilation of the kitchen premises. The food
supplies were also inspected and found to be satisfactory.
Manufacture of Ice Cream.
There are six known pr emises in the Borough occupied by
Italians, where Ice Cream is manufactured for sale in the
streets. The premises have been inspected during the year,
and were found to be kept in a clean condition.
At present there are no regulations in force in the district
for controlling the manufacture of this commodity.
Destructive Insects and Pests Acts,
1877-1907.
American Cooseberry Mildew Order, 1912.
During the year three outbreaks of "mildew" were discovered,
the bushes affected being situated in the Allotments
at Petersham and a market garden in the Kew district.
The Board of Agriculture and Fisheries were informed,
and the Sanitary Inspector, accompanied by the Board's
Inspector, visited the Allotments, and gave written instructions
for the affected bushes to be properly pruned and tipped and
the affected parts burned.
The notices were complied with.
The Wart Disease of Potatoes Order, 1912.
One notice was received from the Board of Agriculture and
Fisheries during the year that wart disease had been discovered
on the Petersham Allotments. The Sanitary Inspector was
appointed in September as Inspector under the above Orders,
and gave instructions for the Regulations of the Board to be
complied with.
