House Drainage.
The amount of work carried out during the past year under
this heading was considerably in excess of that executed in
previous years. The drainage systems of 95 houses were either
entirely reconstructed, or repaired, according to the nature of
the defects discovered.
Seventy houses were entirely re-drained and the sanitary
fittings brought up-to-date; at twenty-five houses the drains
and sanitary fittings were repaired.
In sixty instances written application was made to the
Local Authority under the Public Health Acts, 1875 to 1907,
for the examination of drains and water closets. The necessary
