dence was outside the Borough, but who died in Richmond.
In accordance with the instructions of the Registrar-General,
this number is deducted from the registered deaths, and transferred
to the respective districts.
On the other hand, 48 persons whose homes were in
Richmond died outside the district, and these have been added
to the registered deaths, making the total number of deaths
belonging to the district 458. This gives a death rate of 13 6
but the Registrar-General has supplied a "factor" to correct
the age and sex distribution in the Borough. This "factor"
is .9296. The corrected death rate for the Borough for the
year 1913 was therefore 12.6.
The death rate for England and Wales for the year 1913
was 13'4 per thousand of the population.
Forty-two per cent, of the deaths which occurred in the
Borough during the year 1913 were of persons over 65 years
of age.
One hundred and fifty of the deaths in the Borough
occurred in persons over 70 years of age, viz.:—
81 between 70 and 80 years of age.

Particulars of Transferable Deaths.
Of the 85 deaths of non-residents registered in the district
76 took place in public institutions, viz., 42 in the Workhouse
Infirmary and 34 in the Royal Hospital, The remainder took
place in various parts of the Borough, viz., 4 in the river
Thames, and 5 in other parts of the Borough.
Deaths of Residents Registered outside the District.
The deaths occurring outside the district of persons belonging
to the Borough were 48.
