SANITARY INSPECTOR'S REPORT.
Sanitary Department,
Council Offices,
New Malden,
January, 1915.
To the Maldens and Coombe Urban District Council.
I herewith present my seventh Annual Report of the work accomplished
in the Sanitary Department, and the sanitary circumstances
of the district during the past year.
A tabulated summary of the various inspections made and
nuisances discovered will be found on pages 56 and 57.
Systematic inspection of the district has been carried out in
accordance with the General Orders of the Local Government Board,
Section 92 of the Public Health Act, 1875, and Section 17 of the
Housing, Town Planning, etc., Act, 1909, and the Regulations made
thereunder.
During the year 113 complaints of nuisances were received, a
decrease of 16 below the number received during the previous year.
All complaints are immediately investigated, and the necessary
steps taken to enforce the proper compliance of the Council's Byelaws
and Regulations and to secure the abatement of any nuisance found
to exist.
The majority of nuisances discovered were remedied upon receipt
of informal notices only, but in eleven cases the matter had to be
again reported to the Committee, and after approval by the Council
legal notices served. I am pleased, however, to again be able to
say that in no case have legal proceedings been necessary.
Two hundred and thirty-one Sanitary Notices were served, one
hundred and ninety-seven of which were complied with, sixteen
notices being outstanding at the close of the year, though in most of
the sixteen cases the works specified in the notices were in course of
procedure on December 31st, 1914.
